The Apple Creek flood models were prepared by Houston Engineering, Inc. for the Burleigh County Water Resources District in 2010. Flood stages are only available for Apple Creek from I-94 to 2 miles downstream of Hwy 1804. The flood stages only include flood levels from Apple Creek. Hay Creek flood levels may be higher at times. There is an unknown margin of error and the user is cautioned to allow for this. The user assumes all risks related to the use of this data. The Missouri River flood models were prepared by Houston Engineering, Inc. for the Burleigh County Water Resource District in 2018. The models where then updated in 2020 by Houston Engineering to smooth out the flood polygons and to update the Fox Island area. These models do not include the protective measures constructed by Burleigh County, the City of Bismarck or Morton County and the City of Mandan and therefore reflect an approximation of what might be flooded without these measures in place. These Missouri River flood models are the best available estimates based on the Bismarck-Mandan MPO’s LIDAR topography, a river profile obtained from the HEC-RAS model developed for the September 2005 Bismarck-Mandan Digital Flood Insurance Map (DFIRM) and a sixteen (16) foot stage at the Missouri River Stream Gage at Bismarck [USGS 063425000]. These models reflect highly uncertain conditions and do not illustrate backwater. There is an unknown margin of error and the user is cautioned to allow for this.
